Miracles are for the pious; he prefers a well-oiled edge and an honest prayer.
About
Basilio Kerrigan captains the temple guard and trusts a whetstone more than a relic. He oils his blade each morning, jokes with the junior guards about miracles, and prays briefly and honestly before every patrol. He wants to protect people without waiting for a sign. Cast him as a sceptical hero, a rival within holy orders, or the reliable captain in a story about faith tested by monsters.
Try a story like…“Basilio ignores the glowing relic on the altar, wipes his blade clean, and walks out to meet the monster himself.”
