How we collect, use, and protect your information

1. Information We Collect
When you create a Comistitch account we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in through a third-party provider such as Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider.
We collect the story prompts, character descriptions, and configuration choices you submit to our AI-powered creative tools. The comic images and metadata produced are also stored on your behalf.
Payment information including billing address, subscription plan, and transaction history is processed and stored by our merchant of record partner. Comistitch does not directly store credit card numbers or bank account details.
We automatically collect usage data such as pages visited, features used, generation counts, and device or browser information to improve service quality and diagnose technical issues.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your account information to authenticate your identity, manage your subscription, and deliver the comic generation service. Your email address is used for transactional messages such as billing receipts and account notifications.
Story prompts and character descriptions are sent to third-party AI providers to generate comic artwork. We retain generated outputs so you can access, re-download, and manage your comics from your account.
Usage analytics help us understand how the platform is used, identify performance bottlenecks, and prioritize feature development. We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.
3. AI-Assisted Content & Creative Tools
You retain full ownership of all comic pages and images created through Comistitch using your prompts and characters. Comistitch does not claim any intellectual property rights over your creative outputs.
Your story prompts and character descriptions may be transmitted to third-party AI providers (such as Google Gemini) for the sole purpose of generating comic artwork. These providers process your data according to their own privacy policies.
We do not use your prompts or creative outputs to train our own AI models. We select third-party AI providers whose API terms prohibit using customer inputs for model training. We do not share your creative outputs with other users unless you explicitly choose to publish them in the community gallery.
4. Data Storage and Security
All data is hosted on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. Account data and comic metadata are stored in a PostgreSQL database. Generated comic images are stored in Google Cloud Storage.
Data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256 encryption provided by Google Cloud. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and protected by multi-factor authentication.
While we implement industry-standard security measures, no system is completely immune to breaches. In the event of a data incident we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
6. Data Retention
Your account data, comics, and generation history are retained for as long as your account remains active. You may delete individual comics or your entire account at any time from the account settings page.
When you delete your account, all personal data, comics, and associated files are permanently removed within 30 days. Certain anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytical purposes.
Payment and billing records are retained for seven years after the last transaction to comply with tax and financial reporting obligations.
7. Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to certain processing activities.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@comistitch.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Your Rights Under CCPA
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of your personal information.
Comistitch does not sell personal information to third parties. To submit a data access or deletion request, contact support@comistitch.com. We will verify your identity before processing any request.
9. Third-Party Services
We use a merchant of record partner for subscription billing and payment processing. When you purchase a plan, your payment data is handled by our payment partner under their privacy policy and PCI DSS compliance standards.
Comic artwork is created with the assistance of third-party AI providers. Prompts are transmitted securely to these services and processed under their respective data processing agreements.
Our infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Platform. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf and is contractually bound to protect the confidentiality of your data.
10. Children's Privacy
Comistitch is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has created an account, we will promptly terminate the account and delete the associated data.
